CHYOA review

CHYOA is a collaborative fiction library where a chapter can lead to several published continuations. There’s also a Game Mode for stories that track decisions. The two work differently when you reach the end of a chapter or come back to the story later.

Pick a long route or a branching one

The public browse menu separates Deep Stories, with long published paths, from Many Paths, with more reader choices. At the end of a chapter you choose among the continuations the authors have posted. You can follow most visible stories while signed out. Game Mode can remember values and earlier decisions, and guest progress belongs to the current browser session.

Check how the story is organized

OpenTGC gives a serial numbered parts and previous and next links. CHYOA’s Story Map shows branches, so a chapter count by itself won’t tell you how far your chosen route goes. CHYOA prohibits sexual depictions of minors and requires permission and a note when republishing another author’s work.

Anabel’s take

I'd use Deep Stories when I wanted a longer read and Many Paths when I was in the mood to try several outcomes. If a particular branch caught my interest, I'd check how far that path goes before starting over.
